JUDGMENT

Crucial to Competitor Success

Understanding the judging criteria process will ensure that athletes are properly prepared to compete in INBF & WNBF sanctioned events.

Judging Criteria Varies

Each division has specific criteria; knowing specifically what the judges are looking for will help competitors avoid penalties, particularly if they are competing in more than one division.

Judging Criteria

Men in the Bodybuilding Divisions will be judged through a series of poses that will allow the judges to evaluate not only individual body parts, but also the “whole package.”

JUDGING ROUNDS

ROUND 1 – SYMMETRY: Symmetry encompasses overall balance and conditioning
from top to bottom and side poses.

ROUND 2 – MUSCULARITY/CONDITIONING: Athletes will be judged on the size of muscles and
conditioning/definition by executing a series of mandatory poses. Competitors must perform all
mandatory poses in a timely manner. Judges are looking at the complete package from all parts of the
physique not just one body part at a time.

MANDATORY POSES

  • Front double bicep
  • Front lat spread
  • Side chest
  • Side tricep
  • Back double bicep
  • Back lat spread
  • Abs and thigh

PERSONAL ROUTINE

In addition to the symmetry and muscularity rounds, a personal routine will be performed by each competitor,The routine can change the competitor’s place up or down. In the routine, the competitor will also be judged on his stage presence and the quality of the performance.

SCORING OF EACH ROUND:
Judges will score each round and give competitors a final placement for that round before moving on to the next round. Example: if there are 8 people in the class the judging panel will place athletes 1st thru 8th in each round. When judging is complete both scores (2) will be added together to come up with the final placement for each competitor in that class.
